Obstacle Course Rules
Here are the rules for the Alvin SeaPerch Regional Competition' Obstacle Course Challenge on January 23rd, 2016.
- Teams must be ready to step on the pool deck 5 minutes before their start time.
- Only the pilot, navigator, and coach are allowed on the pool deck for each team.
- All teams will have two chances to run the course within their 20 minute heat.
- If your first course time is greater than 7 minutes, you will not receive a second chance.
- Each team will start their obstacle course challenge when their lane timer starts.
- All ROVs will start touching the wall at depth they desire.
- Once the ROV has gone forward through the course, the ROV must surface (Come up to the surface of the water) before it comes back through the course to touch the wall.
- Navigators are not able to pull the tether to increase the speed of the ROV.
- The official time will stop when the ROV has touched the wall on the return trip through the course.
- The second course time will again be started by the individual lane timer.
- Once the two obstacle course runs are completed, the team must exit the Pool Deck area.
